Halloween in the Parks: A Comprehensive Guide to Disney's After-Hours Parties with a Coney Negroni
Step into the spooky side of Disney as we raise our Coney Negronis and dive deep into the most ghoulishly delightful events on both coasts. Having braved torrential Florida downpours at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and researched the increasingly popular Oogie Boogie Bash, we're sharing everything you need to know before booking your Halloween Disney adventure.
Our Mickey's Not-So-Scary experience at Magic Kingdom was unforgettable—even with rain so heavy it created rivers on walkways! We discovered the perfect rainy-night hack: washcloths in shoes to absorb moisture, and the undeniable value of both ponchos AND umbrellas for those notorious sideways Florida storms. Disney made it right with a complimentary Park Hopper pass, proving that even at their spookiest, the parks still deliver on magic.
Dressed as Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc., we experienced firsthand how costumes enhance the celebration. Cast members saluted us, the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor interactive show acknowledged our presence, and we collected enough candy to last months. The late-night advantage can't be overstated—when families with young children depart around 9pm (especially at Disneyland), you might find yourself enjoying multiple consecutive rides on Splash Mountain with no wait!
The Oogie Boogie Bash at California Adventure sounds particularly compelling with its interactive treat trails featuring villains who engage directly with guests, the atmospheric Villain's Grove walkthrough, and the delightfully sinister Frightfully Fun Parade. While the food offerings at both events left something to be desired, the entertainment, character interactions, and dramatically reduced wait times make these events worth every penny of their $119-$199 price tags.
With Oogie Boogie Bash tickets going on sale soon (31 dates starting August 17th this year!), now's the time to decide which coast will host your Disney Halloween adventure. Take our advice: if weather is a concern, California's your best bet—but wherever you celebrate, these parties deliver a frightfully fun experience that regular park days simply can't match. Ready to make your spooky Disney dreams come true? These events sell out fast, so start planning now!
Here's who we are and what is in store for you
Hello and welcome to Cheers to Ears, where today we're drinking a Coney Negroni that sold at one of my favorite bars I've never been to.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 1:The.
Speaker 2:Abracadabra. I'm going to attempt to go there At one of my favorite hotels.
Speaker 1:I've never stayed at the Boardwalk.
Speaker 2:Inn.
Speaker 1:It's potentially my favorite hotel. I need to stay there to make it my favorite hotel. Yes, and see if it actually is, but it gives me the vibes, but it and the abracadabra doesn't open till about 4 pm okay, every day, yeah, and so it's hard to go there if you're going to the park that day, yeah, or if you're just going early and looking around. So, like last two times I've been to, boardwalk has been in the morning we snuck out both of our days Epcot days.
Speaker 2:Right, we could have done that too, but we didn't think about it. In the evening we were cruising in the evening, it was middle of the day, when it's hot, right.
Speaker 1:We could have left at 4pm, though, and went over there for a drink real quick and walked back. It's so close. If only we'd known.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's so close yeah.
Speaker 1:So it's so close? Yeah, so it's made with Woodford Reserve, kentucky, straight Bourbon, campari liqueur, attica Camparo Sweet Vermouth Okay, is the one they use and it's $19.50 at the Abracadabra.
Speaker 2:A little up there. Not too bad. It's Disney like above average. So we came close. We did Jim Beam Bourbon. That's what we had. We did a shot of that. We did a shot of aperol, which is very close to campari, and although if you're probably a true alcohol snob, liquor snob, you probably think I'm an idiot for saying that yeah, but we're not buying all the stuff no but we already had aperol.
Speaker 2:That's what we use, and we had jim beam, that's what we use, and then some sweet vermouth that you had. This is a sit at the bar. Tell the bartender your as you said. Tell the bartender your problems drink.
Speaker 1:Yes, this is. I had a really bad day. While the bartender's wiping down the bar with his white towel, you say give me a Cody Negroni. And he says well, how? Why was your day so bad? This is very bourbon forward.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's very alcoholy, yes, yeah, so I'm not getting a whole lot of the sweet vermouth or the Campari. I'm not getting a lot of orange. This is a long, hard day cocktail.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I'm getting the orange on the back end Okay, Like back of throat kind of feeling the orange flavor.
Speaker 2:But other than that, it's totally alcohol forward. Yeah, so a typical negroni is made with gin or vodka instead of the the bourbon, and I'm curious to try one of those now, but that'll be for next time.
Speaker 1:Yep, for this time we we had bourbon right, and so we have this from abracadabra and we're going to talk about a great topic today.
Speaker 2:Yes, halloween at disney yes, one that we meant to talk about after we came back from our trip and we never got around to it. No, I think we mentioned it a few times we mentioned it recaps, but we wanted to do a full episode on it and now that tickets are probably going on sale in the next month or two, we figure now's the time to start talking about it right, so you, you can decide if you want to go or not now.
Speaker 2:full disclosure we've never been to oogie boogie bash, correct? I've been to mickey's not so scary twice at disney world and once at disneyland, and so I've got some comparisons to make. Their oogie boogie bash sounds awesome, but it's you better get online and get those tickets early, right, because they sell out really fast yeah.
Speaker 1:I would dial all the numbers right now, yes, except for the last one, and wait for a couple months until it goes on sale. Then hit that last number real fast. Or hit send yeah, yeah, or hit send Right, because that's how fast they sell. Do you do that on your phone anymore?
Speaker 2:I, because that's how fast they sell. Do you do that on your phone anymore? I think you have to hit send On your cell phone. Do you have to hit send I?
Speaker 1:think you have to hit the call button afterwards when you type in the number.
Speaker 2:Okay, I don't know, it used to be. You had to hit send.
Speaker 1:The last time I typed a full number in, and now I don't know.
Speaker 2:I don't know. I never talked to anybody.
Speaker 1:I have all the numbers on my phone. I call. Yeah, I just hit the the person and call them.
Speaker 2:The person right.
Speaker 1:Yeah, Even the Disney numbers. I call. It's all on my phone. Yeah, I say Disney customer service bloop. So yeah, so we're talking both Halloween parties, let's start off talking about our experience with Mickey's Not so Scary.
Speaker 2:Now, florida, during Mickey's Not so Scary is, peaks sweltering with afternoon evening rainstorms and that can mess things up well, can it, because you know it's going to happen. You know it's going to happen, but I mean it can mess things up as far as shutting down rides and if parades, parades, a lot of the activities, right, fireworks, which it did for us correct. Now we found a couple places to kind of hide out in a little bit. But overall, I mean we have a good attitude about things. So it was like we knew it was a potential and we just dealt with it. We had our ponchos and our umbrellas.
Speaker 1:And we were good.
Speaker 2:Right, we rolled with it, but you know, for some people it would just ruin the evening and then they go all karen on a cast member. Now what was great is on our way out, they gave us a park one free day, with park hopper pass to disney world because it rained on us for probably a good solid two hours.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, I don't know how many hours we were there, but most of the time it rained.
Speaker 2:We walked in at four. The thing started at seven. Yeah, it was two to three hours. Yeah, it rained, and I mean at least half. That was like the rain where it rained so hard that it doesn't have anywhere to go, right, because it can't drain away fast enough, so you're walking through like a river.
Speaker 1:Right, and that's why you need a poncho and an umbrella. Yes, because the sideways rain is real. Yes, it'll hit you. You can't move your umbrella every which way as the rain changes where it's going right in your face.
Speaker 2:And. But that's where I think. That's where I think that's where we learned our trick. Or I shared with you my trick of you roll up a washcloth and shove it into your shoe at the end of the night and it absorbs all the excess water. Yeah, it did. So, you're good for the next day? Yes, so that was kind of our experience. They took care of us, disney took care of us because it rained and we had a great experience.
Speaker 1:We didn't expect we wouldn't have asked for that. Yeah, because I had the perfect day anyway I did too. I loved every second we were there, because we did Our candy trails were great. Yes, we got lots of candy.
Speaker 2:We got lots of candy. I'm not a big candy guy.
Speaker 1:But we got lots of candy anyway.
Speaker 2:I mean you bring it home and it takes a couple of months to get through all of it. We dressed up, we dressed up, we did Mike and Sully. I was of course Sully, you were Mike, it just made sense. But we went into Monsters Inc Laugh Floor and sat down. They did notice that Mike and Sully were walking through the building. If you go to the Disney World version, you have to sit down and just hang out in Mike and Sully's Laugh or the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, mm-hmm, because they comment on everybody. There's a candy line that goes through the front of there, right, and they comment on everyone. And it's pretty funny stuff. It's pretty funny, it's a lot of funny stuff.
Speaker 1:And the cast members saluted us when we walked in.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 1:Hilarious the bosses were. We got lots of comments on our outfits. We did, I think we pulled it off. We did, didn't know. We ordered everything on Amazon.
Speaker 2:Yep, tried to go blue, mostly just blue and green. Right yeah, because it was more Disney bounding than we dressed up as the actual.
Speaker 1:There was no fur involved on my part, yeah we got one picture of both of us together like a selfie before we watched the Country Bear Jamboree. We were sitting there, but other than that, we were so wet and soaking, we didn't get a good picture, which we really wanted, yeah, and then our plan was to take one here afterwards, and we never did it.
Speaker 2:We never did, no, so we don't have any photos and so, and I would say part of it was when you first walk in, everybody's hitting. Especially everybody in a costume is hitting the people taking pictures, and so we saw those long lines. We're like, yeah, well, we'll get to that later and stuff, and then it just didn't happen. So one thing we didn't do is at least with you is we were walking out like real close to midnight and they did have the last villain show at midnight, but we walked out without really. We kind of watched it as we were walking.
Speaker 2:But we didn't stand and watch the whole show. Now I watched that the first year. That is a great show. I should watch it.
Speaker 1:So my deal on the shows is all the shows, like I just did with Oogie Boogie, which we'll talk about. Youtube's my friend. Yeah, I don't need to see it live, live. Yeah, it doesn't make a difference to blue, right with the right it's pretty cool looking but I can watch that. I mean I could get almost the same experience from youtube. I think okay to me a parade I can watch on youtube, like I watched the mickey's whatever it's called the frightfully fun parade at oogie boogie.
Speaker 1:I watched that today okay yeah, I don't need to see it and I've seen some stuff on oogie boogie. I kind of want to go to oogie boogie well, I kind of do it, kind of sold me on watching. I watched two different versions today, okay, different people, just they weren't talking about. I like the walkthroughs where no one speaks. They, just, they just film, oh just film those are my favorites there.
Speaker 1:I forgot which. I forgot what youtube channel I really like. I shouldn't have that so I can tell everyone how great it is, because they're really good. They just show the park. They do walkthroughs. I watch. Admittedly, I watch about one walkthrough a week. Oh yeah, they just walk through the park. I watch each park like Epcot walkthrough right and they just go in the morning.
Speaker 2:They walk the entire.
Speaker 1:Epcot. They usually do a couple rides. They'll show a couple rides on the walkthrough and they just do a walkthrough of the whole park.
Speaker 2:See, the only ones I do are Fresh. Big David walks through, but he's talking.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I watch him too, but I like the silent ones, where I just watch and I create my own. I don't know if I've ever watched too many. I do that too often. Any of those Chrissy's caught me a couple times. I try to do it when no one's around. I put the headphones on on the TV. No judgment zone. Yeah, no judgment zone.
Speaker 2:I can't have that.
Speaker 1:I have enough judgment about my Disney stuff in my life.
Speaker 2:I don't need any more.
Speaker 1:But Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party last year ranged from $119 to $199 per night, so that's the average.
Speaker 2:And I think it's a bit more for Disneyland.
Speaker 1:It's not, it's less. Oh, it's less. Well, it could be, it could be less. It's $134 to $189 if you boogie last year. They haven't announced this year's prices yet they just announced the dates for Oogie Boogie Now.
Speaker 2:It sells out almost instantly Oogie Boogie Now. It sells out almost instantly Oogie.
Speaker 1:Boogie does Oogie, boogie Not so.
Speaker 2:Scary, does not? No, we were fine.
Speaker 1:We got tickets way after they went on sale.
Speaker 2:I think we got them in August or something. Yeah, way after we decided we had to decide what to do. Yeah, because we were going back and forth whether or not we should do that.
Speaker 1:Right and then to make it happen.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and then I kind of flubbed it because they also had. We went to Magic Kingdom where we were kicked out at six. It worked out well because we went and met Eli and Addie. It did work out well. But and we went two days to Magic Kingdom and we were going two days to Magic Kingdom anyway.
Speaker 1:We were fine.
Speaker 2:Because they let you in a few hours early. They let you in at four and the party doesn't start till seven, right? So lots of candy. Now they provide you with a bag. But I actually, when I went to makey's not so scary, when it was at disneyland I brought one of those drawstring backpacks and I like that a little more because it closed up because my bag fell over when I went by myself. I was on space mountain fell over and the whole bottom of the car filled with candy and I'm trying to pick it up real fast at the end to get out of the ride and all the cast members are looking at me like I'm an idiot. Yeah, Because I was at that moment an idiot for letting my candy spill.
Speaker 1:If your goal is candy, you should take your own separate bag.
Speaker 2:Yes, If that's your goal. So I got a drawstring and I filled that thing. Yeah, it was a ton of candy, but my intention was to give it to my boss because she has a candy bowl, or she had a candy bowl in her office, and to let her just use that until it was all gone yeah, we could have definitely filled up bags if we wanted to.
Speaker 1:Yeah, oh yeah, because they were offering us to go back through. Yes, it was raining so hard that people were leaving, I think, and yeah.
Speaker 2:So that's an interesting thing between the two as well Disneyland versus Disney World and I don't know if it's still the case with Oogie Boogie Bash, but Disneyland with all the locals who go, they all cut out with their kids at, and I've never gone on Halloween, but they all cut out by like 8, 39 o'clock. Well, the thing goes till midnight, right. So at 8, 39 o'clock the park empties and there's just a diehard people like me and the rides are empty. That's like one of the times where I went on splash mountain and I had the whole log myself and when I pulled up at the end of the ride there was nobody waiting in line and the girl, the cast member who's working there, she's like are you going again? I said yes, she hit the button and I took off again. Yeah, so I didn't even have to get out.
Speaker 1:I don't remember the rides we rode. I know we did the Space Mountain in complete dark. Yeah, we did.
Speaker 2:Yes, complete dark we did. People mover we did, but that was during the fireworks, so that was kind of fun well, people was fun anyway yeah, it is, I'll argue that all day with anybody. I like the people mover people move is great, and you know, I learned a new trick that if you just swirl your finger around, yeah, you don't have to get off, you can write again, should try it is that I mean should try that trick and see if it's a real trick or just?
Speaker 2:Well, I watched a video. Dan does YouTube Okay, and he's a Disney guy. He's kind of an interesting guy, but he wanted to see how many times he could ride People Mover in a day. And finally, at a certain point of the day, the supervisor came in and told the cast members after four times you have to kick him off. Oh, so he would have to get off and get back in line, but he could not leave, so they had to actually bring him. He had to have snacks in his bag because he could not do anything all day except for ride the People Mover.
Speaker 1:See, that's when you know you go to Disney. Just enough if you can have those kind of days that means that's the perfect sweet spot for Disney. Yeah, to go right enough where you can have a day where you just ride the people movie, just be a goofball and not even care.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that was me. Disneyland, yeah, I went enough where it was like, eh, okay, couldn't do anything all day except for walk around and look at stuff, and I mean I was just so happy about that, yeah. So I'm trying to think what else? Were there any other real differences, the big things? I noticed, of course, weather being one of them that in California you don't have to deal with weather. So if you're thinking about a trip where you want to go see one of these, you want to go to the Halloween party if you don't want weather to be a factor, just go to Disneyland, I would say, and try to book a trip there if you have an option. Yeah.
Speaker 1:From watching the videos today, the Oogie Boogie Bash looks pretty cool. I mean you start by when you walk into California Adventure Oogie Boogie's up above the California Adventure. You walk in, the whole park is like total Halloween style. Yeah Right, cars Land looks amazing.
Speaker 2:Yes, it does the stuff they do at.
Speaker 1:Marvel, the Marvel Universe looks great.
Speaker 2:And you have to ride Guardians. The Halloween version Right.
Speaker 1:And you can ride it twice with your Lightning Lane. It's a whole different ride. You can do it beforehand on the regular and do it again with Lightning Lane. I didn't realize that, right, unless they change it this year. Because a few years ago they had about 20 dates for Oogie Boogie. Because a few years ago they had about 20 dates for Oogie Boogie, last year they had 25. And this year they have 31. Wow, 31 Oogie Boogie dates. Starting on August 17th. This year is when Oogie Boogie starts.
Speaker 2:So we have a plan for. Should we be looking at that, doing Oogie Boogie? I don't know if we need, I don't know it's different, we don't have to, but I'm saying I don't want to stress to get tickets.
Speaker 1:I mean, I guess if we get them, we could get them.
Speaker 2:Maybe we'll try.
Speaker 1:So I could get tickets way before. Can you buy two? I think I can. I'll check it out, because the top Magic Key holder goes first, okay, and then the rest of the Magic Keys go next. This is how they did it last year. Yeah, and then at then gen pop gets to buy tickets.
Speaker 2:All right, I'm not gen pop anymore so I think if we go early september those might be a little easier dates let's look at the dates and talk to christy and yeah, do the whole spiel.
Speaker 1:You might have to think about that because I'm gonna use my magic key so I won't be paying for tickets. Yeah, so they're adding on a ticket price of between 134 and 189 dollars, so costco is doing a special disneyland three days with park hopper and with multi-pass included for 449.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, I'm all over that business.
Speaker 1:So yeah, so we're talking about trying to plan a september trip, yes, where I can activate my magic key yeah terrace we'll do jam pop hotel. Yeah, from an extra, I'm saying a hotel lulu yes, and I've stayed there.
Speaker 2:That's right. I forgot that you did mention that to me, but for some reason it snuck up on me.
Speaker 1:Yes, and what I haven't stayed at. I'm trying to stay to all the harbor boulevard, across the street hotels, yes, and that's down on catella.
Speaker 2:It's on the south east corner of catella right and I've stayed there one night. It's a best western part of that family. This uh, there are other best westerns I prefer, but close to walking distance, your kitty corner, to candy cane inn, which I stayed at and really like that. It's gen pop. It's still close to 300 a night, but nice hotel anyway.
Speaker 1:Getting back to yeah, this is this is way cheaper than I got a great deal.
Speaker 2:That's why I stayed there yeah, yeah, and that's why I stayed there. It's because it was yeah 230 for two nights.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, great yeah, that's so close and all I do is sleep.
Speaker 2:All I need is a bed and honestly, if all you're doing is sleeping.
Speaker 1:Right, it's not a piece of wood. Yeah, I mean, I just need a bed I can kind of sleep halfway comfortably in and a shower.
Speaker 2:That's a great price for what you're going to get. Right, that's all I need.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah. So with Oogie Boogie Bash, the differences the tree trails looked a lot cooler, looked a lot cooler. Yes, like the tree trails all had a character. Uh-huh, on the tree trail they were talking to people. Now, now be it last year with the doofenshmirtz debacle you've heard about that. Right, they tried to do doofenshmirtz from finning some furb. Yes, and he looked awful, yeah I heard about that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it was really bad.
Speaker 1:I mean, I think I watched the best guy, probably today, because he wasn't. He wasn't like cringy, uh-huh, something looked cringy. Some look cringy, yeah Right, but they just didn't say anything. Good, most of them don't. They're not too hilarious.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:I think my favorite was Sid from Toy Story. Oh OK, he was pretty funny. He was telling people like he was making fun of people's costumes when they walked by. That's hilarious, like you know. Too many sparkles, you'd probably get those all over the place.
Speaker 1:that's why I triple lock my bedroom door, because of people like you that come in right and he almost dropped the little, the little head, the headed robot guy uh made. Yeah, it almost fell down. He was telling everyone how his awesome save he made and how great he is for making it and um I'm gonna have to watch some of these videos, yeah it was pretty good. So sid was good, but a lot of them just weren't very good and some I had to think about, like the bad guy from big hero six.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah he was on there he was in.
Speaker 1:He was in san risocchio, so that made sense. Oh, okay, but he was talking, he wasn't too funny, and then for some reason they think a bad guy is, um, bruno. I don't call him a bad, I don't call bruno he's not a bad guy, he's not a villain he was a tree trail. They only had other villains and then bruno's there.
Speaker 2:So I don't know. Yeah, yeah, I think the grandma's more of a she's more of the villain of that story. So anyway, she does come around at the end.
Speaker 1:But the tree trails look pretty good. The actual parade was pretty cool. The the Frightfully Fun Parade. It was fun. They had those horsemen coming out, the one I watched. The horse came out and had an accident when he walked out in front of everybody.
Speaker 1:I was like, oh, he doesn't have the. When we were at the hotels, we were watching the trolleys with the horses, the horse-drawn carriages. They, the hotels, we were watching the trolleys with the horses, the horse drawn carriages. Yes, they all had it. They all have bags on the back of the horses. Yes, to catch the poop, right? Yeah, so this this horse did not have that with the headless horse, no, no, bagless horse.
Speaker 1:But then they showed the actual, the cast members that come out and clean it up, and they got a cheer they it was great.
Speaker 2:That's funny.
Speaker 1:So the Headless Horseman's cool, but he doesn't come out. When it's rainy or lightning type stuff he doesn't come out at all. But that's not an issue really. Not there it is, in Florida.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Right, that was cool. And then the Villain's Grove. That's what did it for me. It looks so cool. You should watch videos just to in the Villain's.
Speaker 2:Cove. No, no characters were in the Villain's Grove. Oh, okay, it didn't have any.
Speaker 1:I heard in the past. I guess in the past maybe it did.
Speaker 2:Okay, I thought we knew we were describing it.
Speaker 1:There might have been candy trails there before it's just a walkthrough. Very cool looking, though, with vines growing on trees. Oh, some of the trees look like they were burning, oh yeah so cool the the way they did it was great interest.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it looked really cool. And the other cool character was hades. He was pretty funny. He's one of my favorite villains. He was a good one they had there, so he was funny too. So I didn't have better characters, because we saw characters, we walked in, we walked around the back, uh remember that at cruella de vil was really funny yeah, they were like three or four. They were funny, but they were there in the back when we first walked in so to watch them more they weren't.
Speaker 2:It wasn't a candy trail, it was just a bunch of characters when we first got there we did all the candy trail and then everybody, of course, were they were hiding inside because of the rain right, they had some funny things like the ghosts.
Speaker 1:Yes, they were funny, that woman, the woman ghost at haunted mansion yes, okay they interacted with the people. That she was funny. I have a video of her the uh, now, what am I thinking of?
Speaker 2:the the villain show at mickey's not so scary. So, and I know that they did that at mickey's not so scary when it was at disneyland as well. Okay, because I watched it twice, I didn't watch it with you. So they bring out all the vill, all the villains there. So it starts out, it's the sanderson sisters and they're the I don't know if you want to call them the hosts, but they're or the mcs of the show, but they're the main ones. And then, like dr facilier and maleficent comes out, and I think cruella deville and there's some others, I think even oogie boogie comes out during that one as well. That show, yeah, that's a if you go watch that show. So they and they did one right at midnight or really close to midnight at disney world, right. So that's the one we could have watched, but you can get in at 4, and then the party actually starts at 7 and stuff. But I have to say the most disappointing thing about these is the food.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I pretty much agree. I mean I had an okay burger. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had.
Speaker 2:I don't like Disney burgers too well, no, they're terrible.
Speaker 1:Right, but the one I had, the black.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it had like a black bun.
Speaker 1:Right, it was pretty good. It was spicy.
Speaker 2:So I had the only well, we had the ice cream and I didn't like that.
Speaker 1:You didn't like that. I liked that.
Speaker 2:I liked the ice cream so they put, like a magic shell, candy shell on it.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:It was very waxy and I didn't like that. The texture was horrible and it was really sweet ice cream. So the ice cream itself was fine. It had some candy corn. I'm a fan of candy corn but later on they had a and this wasn't part of Mickey's Not so Scary, but they had a Halloween drink and it was some blackberry.
Speaker 1:Maybe it was a blackberry, paloma, but they had a Halloween drink and it was some blackberry.
Speaker 2:Maybe it was a blackberry Paloma, is it what you had at the Gurgling suitcase at Old Key West? Okay, terrible drink.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I remember you having that drink. I remember your face the entire time.
Speaker 2:And it was. I think it had a salted rim but it tasted like they put salt in the drink. It was a really salty drink. It was terrible.
Speaker 1:But overall, well, a really salty drink. It was terrible, but overall.
Speaker 2:Well, pretty much only 90 year olds stay at old qs. That's probably what they like. Yes, it probably was like their one bit of salt that they had all week. None of the food has salt in it, but there was nothing about the food, because you and I looked over the menu beforehand, yeah, and it was nothing that said, oh, we have to try that no, no, I kind of wanted the candy corn thing and I I'm gonna I'm opposite with you with that.
Speaker 1:I really like the ice cream yeah, I thought it was very good yeah, I know, I usually like really sweet things, but I don't know if it was like I was soaking wet and it was pouring down right at the time and I just stepped in three puddles you stepped in the puddle and then we walked out and you stepped in the same puddle I was soaked and so maybe just eat that ice cream was a happy place.
Speaker 1:Yes, it could have been, I don't know, but for me it was a. The memory of the ice cream was good, it was edible.
Speaker 2:I just like I I ate it, but it was that it was a galactic grill bad.
Speaker 1:No, it was in tomorrow. Well, we had it I don.
Speaker 2:Maybe In my mind it kind of was Really there were a couple of okay aspects of it, yeah, but overall, yeah, I got to say the food was like you got that burger and I chose their bland tacos you did At Pecos Bill.
Speaker 1:And the drink. I got the drink that was with the Not so Scary Party, and I drink that.
Speaker 2:I got the drink that was with the not so scary party and I didn't like the drink I had. I forgot what it was. Yeah, see, and that's the problem is, a lot of the food was forgettable. Yeah, uh, and I don't remember, when I went at Disneyland, or even the year before, if I felt like I needed to order certain food.
Speaker 1:Does any other nighttime after-hours parties have good food, Because Star Wars night I didn't think had anything good.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think they just try to throw some stuff out there. They try and get people to buy stuff as far as food goes, but I don't think it's any good.
Speaker 1:No, and they try to throw. The worst begging for your buck is to get a dining package during the after-hours as far as food goes, but I don't think it's any good. No, and they try to throw the. The worst begging for your buck is to get a dining package during the during after hours and sit down and eat yeah, because you want to be on the move, right, and that's the whole thing.
Speaker 2:So, and like I said I would I don't think I'll ever need to go, because I've gone twice now. I went by myself and I went with you. I never need to go back to mcgee's not so scary in disney world. I never need to go again two's good I'm, I'm done, right, I'm good.
Speaker 2:Disneyland I do want to do a boogie because I haven't done that yet. But it's for the fact that if you buy that ticket with so many locals, especially if you buy a weeknight and I think, think, did I do a weeknight? I don't know if I I might've done a Friday night, but I swear all of the locals left at 8.30, nine o'clock and that park was empty. So for three hours I was riding Big Thunder and we'd pull up to the station. There'd be nobody in line. They just say stay in your seat if you want to go again. We'd pull up to the station. There'd be nobody in line. They'd just say stay in your seat if you want to go again.
Speaker 2:So the ride back to back? Yeah, splash Mountain. So I went twice back to back. You know where you want to go again, okay, and I could have gone. Now, I could have gone a third time because there was still nobody waiting in line. Granted, in October I think it was mid-October Splash Mountain isn't the most popular ride at night anyway, because it's cooling off and whatnot. But I could have ridden three times in a row and had the whole log to myself, right, did we?
Speaker 1:do both Tiana's and Tron on Mickey's Not so Scary. I know they were both open with regular lines. I know we did Tiana's. I'm sure we did.
Speaker 2:I think we did Tiana's. I think we did Tiana's, but I don't know if we did Tron.
Speaker 1:I can't remember how many times. I don't remember Tron because it's such a short ride. It's not my favorite. No, so I don't recall. I don't like every time I ride it, like some of the rides.
Speaker 2:I think you and I just did Virtual no.
Speaker 1:It was just a regular line. I don't know if we did it.
Speaker 2:I don't think we did because it was still an hour. Maybe it was it's longer lines?
Speaker 1:Yeah, and it closed a couple times because of the lightning.
Speaker 2:I don't think that one closes it, I thought it closed. No, because it's still covered the outside part.
Speaker 1:Okay, well anyway, I don't think we rode it.
Speaker 2:We didn't ride that for Mickey's or, yeah, mickey's Not so Scary. We did, I think we did Peter Pan. We got on that pretty late. In fact, I think that was the last thing we rode was Peter Pan, because it was like five minutes before closing and we just ran in line and didn't wait. I think we waited like two minutes.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so do. I think that I think every nighttime spectacular show they have every nighttime show is worth going to. So mickey's, not so scary, is worth going to. It's worth going right, oogie boogie is totally worth going to. Is it worth going to all the time? And you have to decide where it's worth as much money as it costs to go to yeah time.
Speaker 1:That's. That's your own personal thing, right, but I would go to most, most of these nights. Like, am I glad I went to Star Wars night, yeah, but I'll never go to it again. I'm a diehard Star Wars fan.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:But I don't need to go because it's not any different. It's just a bunch of people that want to. I don't know. I spent way too much time in Ogas when I was there because I was kind of. I was like ah, I rode all the rides, I rode all the fantasy. I mean like I rode all the fantasy rides in like 40 minutes.
Speaker 2:And that's probably a big difference. So are you going alone or are you going with someone else, right? So when I went alone, it prioritized getting on those rides and when the ride lines got short, that made it great Because that was ride after ride you big, thunder and space, mountain and yeah, just everything. Now, when you're with someone and or if, like, like I said, florida, it's just, it stayed crowded till almost midnight. Yeah, you know, people tried to start sneaking out a little after 11, 11, 30, but that doesn't leave you a whole lot of time to go running around seeing shows.
Speaker 2:And one of the things that kind of bummed me out when the first time I went is I didn't realize they shut down a lot of the shows at 4 o'clock to start setting up. Yeah, so I was thinking I was going to be able to go on Carousel of Progress. Like that trip. I didn't go on Carousel of Progress, that's a bummer. So make sure that if you go that before 5, I think 5.30 is when they start setting up and they start shutting down certain shows Mickey's, philharmagic or Carousel of Progress, monsters Inc that you make sure that you go in at 4 and just do those shows so that you get a chance to see those. You got to see the shows. Yeah, got to see the shows. Carousel Progress is awesome.
Speaker 1:Yep. So yeah, I recommend going to any. Anytime you want to go to one of these shows, you go. Yeah, If you want to go you just book wants to go?
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's always better with a friend.
Speaker 1:Yes, Always better with a friend.
Speaker 2:But then again, if you like doing stuff by yourself.
Speaker 1:The shows are better. I mean the after hours events are better with a person. Now does Oogie.
Speaker 2:Boogies go to midnight.
Speaker 1:I didn't look at the times they go to.
Speaker 2:I gotta think it does. Yeah, I do know that as soon as Oogie Boogies or it starts boogies or it starts like disneyland gets crazy busy.
Speaker 1:So I would say don't go unless you're going to one of those parties. This says 6 pm to 11 pm.
Speaker 2:Okay, um, so you, they probably let you still in at four or something, 3 pm three hours before oh, that's eight hours in that park for 130 bucks a california adventure 150 yeah. That's not bad. I think that's worth it, because you pay that much to go in for a date anyway. Right, I think it's worth it to pay that price to go to that party, definitely, so I recommend it. Thumbs up.
Speaker 1:Thumbs up.
Speaker 2:That's what we're giving it and you probably can't get a Coney Negroni when you go.
Speaker 1:But you can't Not at one of them. No, you couldn't.
Speaker 2:Or at either of them.
Speaker 1:Well, not when you go that day, but you could get one.
Speaker 2:You could drink ahead of time, right, and then go into the park or get one the next day.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you could have a trip the bus. You'd have to take the bus at Boardwalk.
Speaker 2:At Boardwalk up to Magic Kingdom, Right to Magic.
Speaker 1:Kingdom. That's the fastest way.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:That's how you do it. That's how you do it.
Speaker 2:We've explained it all.
Speaker 1:Right Now. You know everything about it, so you can decide if you want to go to a Halloween event, which tickets will go on sale very soon. So if you want to go and you want someone to even help book that for you, I could actually call them for you and you wouldn't have to call.
